content marketing strategy

A content marketing strategy built specifically for your WordPress plugin or SaaS product

Most plugin and SaaS founders know they should be doing more with their content and marketing. The problem is knowing where to focus, what to fix first, and whether any of it is actually making a difference.

This strategy document gives you a clear, personalised plan built around your product, your audience, and what you can realistically do with the resources you have.

Why your product needs a content and marketing strategy

You’re the expert in what you do. You created your product from the ground up, it solves a real problem, and it genuinely helps your customers. The only issue now is getting it in front of more of the right people.

And if you’re here, I’m guessing that’s just not something you have time for right now. You have new releases to think about, improvements to make, and figuring out which type of marketing is actually right for your business is probably the last thing on your list.

That’s exactly what this strategy solves. It takes the thinking off your plate and gives you a detailed, genuinely useful document with real direction. So you can either get straight to the marketing yourself, or hand it to someone else and take it off your plate completely.

This strategy document is designed to get you from ‘I know I should be doing more with my marketing’ to ‘I know exactly what to do and where to start.’

How the content marketing strategy and audit works

step 1

Fact finding

You fill in a short intake form and share a few screenshots from Google Search Console and any other relevant platforms. Around 20 to 30 minutes of your time.

step 2

Strategy delivery

I review everything, research your product and competitors, and put together a tailored strategy document covering your channels, priorities, and content plan.

step 3

Discussion call

We walk through it together on a 30 to 60-minute call, agree on where to start, and you’ll leave with a clear set of next steps.

Why work with me on your content and marketing strategy?

If you invest in this strategy document, you’ll be working with someone who’s:

  • Spent over nine years marketing WordPress plugins and SaaS products through blog posts, landing pages, and documentation.
  • Worked with brands like Iconic, Orderable, Simply Static, Melapress, Studio Wombat, and Barn2 on content strategy, blog content, video, and more.
  • Run a YouTube channel for years, growing it to over 18,000 subscribers, with regular long-form videos, tutorials, and commentary.

That mix of product-side experience and hands-on content work means we can skip the basics and go straight to what matters for your product and your users.

“I highly recommend Gina to everyone who wants to get serious about content marketing for their project. Gina isn’t someone that only writes blog posts. She will ask about your audience, your product, or where you see your business in the future to shape a strategy that fits in perfectly.”

What clients are saying

“As a Solopreneur, delivering the best quality in all areas of my business is impossible. I struggled with consistently publishing new articles on my blog and keeping everything up to date. That resulted in outdated tutorials, incomplete and hard-to-read documentation, and due to that, an increased support volume.

I finally found someone who can handle my entire content strategy – from brainstorming new article ideas and publishing new posts regularly to updating older content, improving the documentation, and even optimizing the copy of my landing pages.

While I appreciate saving time on content-related tasks, the main benefit for me is the overall quality improvement of my business due to Gina’s work. Gina always delivers on time, and she is a great communicator. I always know what’s going on, what coming next, and what is expected from me (and when).

I highly recommend Gina to everyone who wants to get serious about content marketing for their project. Gina isn’t someone that only writes blog posts. She will ask about your audience, your product, or where you see your business in the future to shape a strategy that fits in perfectly.”

“Gina is an absolute pleasure to work with. She not only is a superbly talented writer and communicator – she understands the why behind her writing, and how it gets our business closer to where we need it to be.

Creating and maintaining a relevant and productive content workflow is a challenge for businesses of any size – but Gina makes it feel effortless. Her work has been the primary driver of growth behind all of our ecommerce products. Not only is she able to grasp and explain highly technical concepts to a mass market, she’s able to do it in a way that’s personable and actionable.

I would HIGHLY recommend Gina to a business of any size. She will absolutely make your life easier, move your business forward, and be a delight to work with along the way.”

“We began working with Gina when we acquired Iconic, and she immediately stood out as one of the strongest parts of that transition. Iconic already relied heavily on her content marketing work, and it was clear why. Before bringing her into our broader organization, we often struggled to produce consistent, polished content that truly reflected the quality of the product. Gina didn’t just fill that gap for Iconic, she set a standard for what excellent product-focused content could look like.

Gina’s work is exceptional across formats. Her video tutorials, feature walkthroughs, and written content are consistently clear, engaging, and deeply aligned with customer needs. She learns fast, understands the products at a technical level, and brings a level of craft that elevates everything she creates. She also works with remarkable independence. With minimal direction, she delivers work that feels tailor-made to our goals and often anticipates what we need before we ask.

Working with Gina is effortless. She is organized, reliable, and communicates clearly. She brings both creativity and strategic thinking to every project, and she does so without requiring extensive briefs or oversight. She is an ideal remote collaborator because she understands context quickly and always moves the work forward.

Gina is brilliant, dependable, and truly exceptional at what she does. She elevates product storytelling, handles content marketing with confidence and autonomy, and consistently delivers work that exceeds expectations. She has been a tremendous asset to Iconic and to our team as a whole, and any organization would be fortunate to work with her.

“Before working with Gina, our blog was an afterthought. We knew content mattered for Ollie, but between building the product and everything else on my plate, the blog never got the consistent attention it deserved. It felt flat and underused.

Since then, she’s completely elevated it. The quality and attention to detail she brings have brought the Ollie blog to life. It finally reflects the care we put into the rest of the product.

What truly sets Gina apart is her deep understanding and hands-on experience with WordPress and WooCommerce. This expertise means I never have to spend time bringing her up to speed on key concepts — she just gets it.

Working with her has been a pleasure. She’s super attentive, easy to communicate with, and consistently delivers great work on time. I never had to chase anything or second-guess the quality.

If you want great work done well and delivered on time, Gina is the person for it.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Gina for the past four years across several product brands, and her contributions have been truly invaluable. Preparing, executing, and reporting on go-to-market content plans can be time-consuming and daunting, but Gina makes it look effortless.

Gina is a highly skilled writer who can clearly communicate both the problem → solution narrative and complex technical concepts to new and existing customers alike. Beyond her work in content marketing, she’s made a significant impact on our user-facing documentation and helped make our websites more SEO- and AI-friendly.

What truly sets Gina apart is her deep understanding and hands-on experience with WordPress and WooCommerce. This expertise means I never have to spend time bringing her up to speed on key concepts — she just gets it.

Working with Gina is a joy. She’s organised, reliable, and consistently meets deadlines, but she also brings strategic thinking and creative ideation to every project. She’s fully invested in the process and always right there with you on the journey.

Getting Gina involved in your product content marketing is one of the best decisions you can make — you’ll quickly see the difference she makes!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to already be doing content marketing?

No. If you’re starting from scratch, the strategy will reflect that and focus on where to begin. If you’re already doing some content work, we’ll build on what’s there and identify what’s missing.

How is this different from the YouTube strategy?

The YouTube strategy focuses specifically on building and growing a YouTube channel. This strategy covers your broader content and marketing picture, including blog, email, lead generation, WordPress.org, YouTube (if relevant), and how it all fits together. The YouTube strategy goes much deeper on that specifically.

Will you help us implement it?

Not as part of this service. The strategy gives you the plan. If you’d like help executing any of it, I offer all of those separately. We can talk through what makes sense during the strategy call.

How much time will this take from our side?

Around 20 to 30 minutes to fill in the intake form and gather a couple of screenshots. Then, a 30 to 60-minute call once the strategy is delivered. That’s it.

What if I also want a YouTube strategy?

If you want both, get in touch, and we can talk about running them together. There’s some overlap in the intake process, which makes it more efficient to do at the same time.
