This case study showcases my content marketing work for WooCommerce plugin company Iconic WP. As of the time of writing, I’ve done over 13 pieces of unique and targeted content for Iconic. 

This case study features some key pieces which have yielded impressive results.

Reason for keyword choice:

Iconic has a large range of plugins but one of these allows for WooCommerce sites to customise their product gallery to include embedded video amongst other things. This targeted keyword and subsequent post topic targets searchers who are looking for a solution to their problem. The solution we are offering, therefore, is one of Iconic’s plugins.

While the monthly searches for these keywords are fairly low, the purchase intent is clear and so as a result, it’s important for Iconic to provide solutions to these problems.

Post structure:

Like many of the posts I produce, this one is extensive. It acts as a tutorial to guide the reader through the steps they need to take to solve their problem. I made sure to do intense research into the topic, including other posts that also ranked to make sure this piece of content surpassed theirs – making it easier to rank higher. 

Also included throughout are strategic calls to action and guiding text to help users reach the end goal – to purchase or do a free trial of the plugin.

As a result of the keyword research, content strategy and content itself. This post ranked high for both targeted keywords. In particular, it ranked 2nd (behind itself) for the keyword ‘woocommerce add video to product gallery’ and acquired a Google snippet, actually ranking it 1st. It also ranked 4th for the keyword ‘woocommerce featured video’.

It has also generated recurring sales of Iconic’s plugin – making back its investment and then some.
