Reason for keyword choice:

Barn2’s plugin Password Protected Categories allows WordPress site owners to create categories within their site that require a password to gain access. Within this, site owners can create a host of hidden pages that could be accessed for subscribers only – making it a perfect fit for both these keywords.

The keywords themselves hosted a reasonable number of searches per month given their specific nature meaning it could result in a good number of plugin sales for Barn2.

Post structure:

Like many of the posts I produce, this post is structured to give the reader a very straightforward experience. They’re told what they’ll learn and are taken through step-by-step until they get to the end result.

To achieve this, they of course, have to download the Barn2 plugin but it’s worded in a way which makes this very appealing and a no-brainer to do so.

Also included throughout are strategic calls to action and guiding text to help users reach the end goal – to purchase the plugin.


As a result of the keyword research, content strategy and content itself. This post ranked for both targeted keywords. In particular, it ranked 4th for ‘WordPress private pages for subscribers’ and it’s still early days.
